„Brodi“ manages the sensation at the 34th ISAS

„That’s gonna be more than a surprise“, Daniel Brodmeier said prior to his start at the ISAS in an interview. After Rio the 30 year old from Niederlauterbach in Bavaria made a break from the shooting sport. Unfortunately an elbow-injury just before his return was a huge set back for him. But nonetheless „Brodi“ came back quite impressively with his victory in the „50m 3 pos. Rifle Men“ event. He scored 1.179 points in the first round being just one point behind the Russian Nazar Luginets. In the following finale, for which you needed to score at least 1.171 points to reach this stage, it was a close head-to-head race between these two and Denis Sokolov, who was able to claim the bronze medal for his nation. After 45 shots in the final the already mentioned surprise was perfect: Daniel Brodmeier won the competition after his break with a total score of 460,0 points, only 1 point ahead of Nazar Luginets, who scored 459,0 points and got the silver medal. The best westphalian shooter was Denis Weingart with a score 1.167 and ranked 18th.

In the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men event Ruslan Lunev dominated the whole competition. After 586 points in the first stage he scored 30 hits and remitted Sandro Lötscher from Switzerland, as well as the indian Rajesh Kumar to the ranks two and three. The best westphalian starter, Peter Müller (Geseke) scored 552 points and ranked 6th.

With Maren Johann Meinerzhagen one familiar shooting was able to keep up the hopes for one german medal in the 10m Air Gun Women Event. After achieving her personal best with a score of 559 in the first stage – Women shoot the same programme as men from now on – Maren earned her spot in the finale of the best 8 contestants. She could keep up with the first two ranks for very long, but unfortunately she had to give her third place to Arianna Comi from Italy after 20 final shots. Gold was handed to Slawomira Szpek from Poland, whose 233,9 points served here the advantage against Kateryna Zelenska from Ukraine, who won the silver medal with a total score of 228,8 points.

Exciting finales wait for you in form of the 10m Air Gun Men Event, the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Women Event, as well as the 50m 3pos Women Event!
